Greetings all ! :)

The topic of baby seats in a CC cropped up again at the weekend, wonder if anyone from Aus would care to clear up a few issues :) I read that the safe-n-sound cosi seat is suppiled with CC's in Austrialia under goverment regs for all new cars to come with a baby seat .. furthermore its a front facing seat that fits in the back for ages 6 months up.

1) true or false ... is this just a rumour :)
2) any photos of one in position? be nice to see how much room they need, what sort of space is taken from the front passenger, how much room is needed for tiny's legs etc.
3) if these _are_ supplied with all new CCs surely there's loads of new seats sitting around in garagessheds unused ... how about setting something up to get one over here to the UK?

Cheers
Duncan

ah ha ... but thats the easy one ! :)
Thanks for the links, I've read through most of them - while they seem to answer the question there's a few "I didn't get one" posts from Aussie owners ...

Keen to know the ins-and-outs of one of these seats ...

Cheers

I got one supplied free with the car but never used it. Just sold my CC and the seat went with it. I don't think it would take much room from the front passenger. Why not pop into a dealer and get them to show you?

Mainly ... cos I'm in the UK (updated my profile to reflect that - how I expected you to know I'm not sure ... ;) )

I'd like to see the solution in use in Aus ... will help in the "can I be bothered" stakes should the time ever come (find a similar seatget a seat over from Ausget the harness clips installedetc etc).

Picks showing the harness points too would be cool.

Far as I can tell UK parents with a CC are faced with two compatibility options when baby arrives (OK - technically ... is 6 months old) - keep the car but never carry passengers (new grandparents), flog the car however much you love it (but you love your mum more ... right?) :D

Thanks
Duncan

I don't have my car anymore so can't send photo's but will try to describe.

When CC's are delivered in Australia they are fitted with 2 harness points that are on the back seats mid way under each of the hoops. I understand that in Europe the child seat can be put in the fron passenger seat and the airbag disarmed - this isn't allowed here.

Perhaps someone here in Oz who has a seat can fit it in theirs and post a photo. I was surprised to hear that Aussies have taken delivery of a car with no baby seat - I undertood it was manadatory, but maybe it was just a promotional things as mine was one of the first CC's delivered in Australia.

My baby seat remained in the box and was taken away to my uncle's garage for storage, so No Can Help from me.

I gave the seat to my parents who have it installed in their Honda for carting the grandkids around.

Tcith, my dealer didn't give me one with the car when I bought it either, but when I approached them on the subject some months later, they handed it over readily enough.
Cheers,
Michael

no more movement on this then ... no-one out there that actually has one of these seats fitted and a digi-cam to take some snaps of the key aspects (fitted in position, fixings required, space available with seats in driving position for kiddy in the back ... and passenger in the front)???

Sorry no. Mine is in my parents' Honda and of the other members whom I know, none of us has a need for a babyseat even though some of us have been practising for awhile now.
