OK, so I used to use Direct CD to put data onto a CD-R, not finalize the disc then add a bit more the next time my e-mail mailbox was getting a bit full.
I'd still be able to read any of the data that I'd burned on any of the previous occasions.
Then I got a new work PC.
With different CD burning software (Roxio Easy CD Creator).
So the next time I need to do a bit of archiving I stick in my CD-R, do what I normally do, and at the end of it I check the disc... you've guessed it... where's all my old stuff gone?
There were no prompts or warnings to let me know that this might happen.
So, I can see there are 16 old tracks on the disc, but can't get at the data cos of number 17.
Admittedly, most of it is stuff that people send attached to personal e-mails, and also some other *ahem* junk, but there are a few letters on there that I need to get at.
Help!

Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.

I guess Direct CD installs some kind of driver for the CD to read the CD as packet sessions (ewrr can't remembr the exact terminology for this thou!)
As for how to get it back, best bet is just to install Direct CD again, copy the stuff to back to your hard drive and never use multi session burning again!
Alternatively, try this: http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster/
And as Lyndon says, CDRW would be a better idea.
