Lost a chrome cover for one of my alloy wheel nuts a few weeks ago and although annoyed didn't think much of it and ordered another one. Made sure that they were all firmly pushed on as well to avoid a repeat performance.

However, when cleaning my car I noticed that another two have fallen off (been stolen?! apparently this happens!!!!). Went to the garage today and the service manager asked to have a look to make sure that there was no obvious reason for them to fall off. It turns out that the ones that are missing are the covers for the locking wheel nut and the reason for this is that there is no yellow retainer to keep them in place.

The guys suggestion is to replace the locking wheel nuts for larger ones so that the covers fit better and have the retainer and hence won't fall off but they want to charge me £30 for doing the deed! Obviously sensing my displeasure at this he then suggested going back to the dealer where I bought the car from, "smiling sweetly" and seeing if they will do it for nothing for me!

What a pain in the :censored: why couldn't Peugeot have made them correctly in the first place?!

Am going to give the whole smiling sweetly thing a go so wish me luck!!! ;)

Hi
The very same thing happened to me too.

I lost 3 nuts within a couple of weeks of picking up "CC". I went back to the dealer who sold it to me and he kindly replaced all three nuts , checked the others were ok and gave me a couple of spares to take away in case it happened again. No charge! I've put a small sliver of blu-tack inside the nut cover to keep it in place - works a treat.

Go see your dealer (or better still, go see Nick Handley in Camberley Dealership!)

Good luck.
Flo

Thought I would update you on this as it seems to be an increasing problem on the CC due a change in the wheel nuts.

I have had to have all 4 locking wheel nuts replaced with 'old style' ones and new covers for them so that they won't fall off! It was all done under warranty and hopefully it will put an end to this minor but annoying problem!!!

I'm surprised it took CB so long to post that...
Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.
