I got my 2.0 se cc last Saturday, after swapping from an Avensis.
Since then everyone has tried to convince me they are either a girls car, hairdressers or think my gate is swinging both ways.
Has anyone else had this problem? The car is great and is better than the pieces of crap they drive.
Why do people think you are a hairdresser if you own a cc?

Yes I have, its called Envy.
Here in Britain its a great constitutional pastime to put people down if they are successful or own desirable cars. Some people can't just think "hey you've done well, like your car, hopefully I'll achieve that. Hence why people key cars or seek to deride others, I've even noticed it on the forum.
To use an example I had many complimentary comments about my car on holiday recently. I was sitting in my slk with the roof down in Cornwall. A father walked past with his son. The son excitingly pointed and said "wow Dad whats that car?" The father said in a loud voice so I could hear "its a mercedes convertable son, a womans car." I just laughed softly to myself, I'm sure he wouldn't object if it was his.

Once when i closed the roof in parking place, there was passing by two older woman. The other one said loudly "that boy could be surprised when it's raining and the roof is stucked and then they laughed". And they were over 60's
Usually people are smiling when they see my car passing by with the roof down... or are they laughing

The CC has got an image of being a mincers car/ hairdressers car/ womans car and i've never really understood why. I mean, most women/mothers nowadays are pottering round in massive 4x4's that they use to go to Sainsburys and drop the kids off at school and people don't see them as "womens cars"...I don't think the press helps, read any motoring magazine or article that mentions the CC and they all add fuel to the fire.
Me personally? I felt comfortable in mine and and so did my mates when i gave them a lift. Incidentally, one of my mates is a New York Cop, anothers in Construction, one rides motorbikes, one is a sailor and the other is a Red Indian....
