Hi Garnett - a number of us have recently had this problem. (there's a load of postings somewhere on this site about it in the last couple of weeks) I took my CC to local Pug service centre (the display was at this stage saying there was an anti-pollution problem as well). They have reconfigured the computer (Ok so they gave me loads of techie info, which went straight over top of my head!!) - one of the guys who also posted on this subject said he was told that the problem can occur after washing the car if too much water goes into the channel at the bottom of the windscreen (computer is apparently right next to that channel) - funnily enough I had had my car washed by the local enterprising teenagers just the day before, so this could well be true. I'm hoping the fault was a one off, but would be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem after washing the car. CCs really don't seem to like water do they?!
If I'm not here I'm in Symi.....where the sun is always shining.....

Pug imports are not covered by peugeot assisstance?

I'm surprised, my imported SLK is covered under the mercedes roadside assistance same as the UK cars. I have had to use it a couple of times so far. :?

nope, we don't get pug assist but I bought an extended warranty and get 2 years RAC with mine. In addition to my standard AA cover which I need for my bike and the VeeDub bus (cos she's 27, aaaah, and no-one else covers old vehicles like that)

I have had the same error shown....but my cat is officially dead. My car is being fixed as I type.

My car began making weird noises about 6 months ago, first of ll it was the engine cover, but it carried on. The delearship said it was all in my head. It got worse and worse until now not even the dealership can dny that it is knackered.

Will let you know how it goes. I put my standard backbox and airfilter on to make sure they cover it on warranty ;-)

:D Cat fault gone!

As it was suggested here, my cat fault must have been water , first the message went , then the engine management light extinguished - wierd eh.

Hi Sam,

Get ready for a long winded noise history that might be useful ???

About 3 months after buying the car i noticed a very slight wheeze noise coming from the engine....it worried me but i decided to leave it as i thought it was nothing

a few months later i started to get an engine reverbaration at 2800 revs...and the first noise had grown louder. I got my car serviced and told them i thought the manifold was broken. All they did was upload new software to my ECU.

I took the car home and fixed the noise at 2800 by padding the plastic engine cover. The wheezing noise continued.

About a month later the wheezing noice disapeared, and was replaced by a metalic rattle. First of all it sounded like it was coming from the backbox, but closer inspection (i revved it, a mate listened outside) showed it was coming from underneath the gearbox.

I put it on ramps and found the CAT is below the gearbox...i gave it a tap and found the source of my rattle (and the wheeze noise). Recently the CAT warning pops-up once a week.

My car is now totally crap to drive - it has lost most of its power, rattles like anything and feels rubbish (the 1.4 206 hire car i was given feels better!!!!) - i almost sold it i hated it that much.

I get it back later today and i'll let you know what happens. Don't forget to swap your backbox for the original at least a week before u take the car in. This will hide any tell-tale signs with dirt so your car remains covered.

Good luck

Steve

This happened to me a while ago. I had it taken in on a flatbed (on advice of the dealer), and all they did was change the plugs / reset the computer. I didn't know the cause at the time (and I can't remember if it had been raining)

The fault re-occurred this week, i.e. engine spluttering, cat fault and antipol fault. Thanks for the good advice on this thread, everything came clear when I read it because I had washed my car the day before. I rang the dealership, who said try running it for a day - they assured me the warranty would not be invalidated. This I did. The cat fault went after one run, the antipol fault went after 1 day, after which the yellow engine icon on the main dash went from flashing to solid. Today (3 days later) the engine icon was not displayed at all!

I think I will spray the comp with WD40 (the box on the left of the engine compartment, with grey clips on), and heighten the water channel above it with some rubber clip on trim!

:( surprise , surprise
washed my car yesterday to examine extent of stone chip damage and now i've got another cat fault / antipollution fault , it never rains , it pours . Not too heavily though i hope as the cc must be dry clean only.
