squeaking sound when braking!!

Post by convertiblefan »

Dear 206cc experts

I have my 55 reg 2.0 206cc for just over 6 mths which i bought from a non-peugeot dealer. I only use it within the town but not daily so not driving enough and occasionally drive out of town probably once every 2 mths just to keep the battery running.

I dont know much about the car but liked and still loves it so bought from the dealer and relied on what they told me were replaced. The cambelt was replaced which i insisted for the age of the car, others probably a general service before delivery.

Could someone please tell me where i can go for a reliable garage for maintenance of my car. I live in Middlesex not far from Heathrow. Recently i feel my car needs some attention and i just know something is not right.

1. Squeaking sound when braking
2. heater came on even control penal was off - not even had radio on.
3. My neighbour had a look at my anti-freeze container, seemed all empty and couldn't see any fluid level as it's yellow makes it even hard to see the level. ( can i put something more visible colour, blue or pink antifreeze? Pls recommend what brand to buy)
4. Someone mentioned of 2 min job to replace the pollution filter, easy enough for me to change. :?

I basically need to get someone relaible to check through the car rather than risking it on the road. As much as the dealer told me all checked and done, i just felt they more wanted to get the car out of their compound at that time.

Thank you and Appreicate all your valuable feedback.

Kind regards, convertiblefan :)

1. Squeaking sound when braking Probably poor quality brake pads or missing anti squeal shim
2. heater came on even control penal was off - not even had radio on. Poss faulty control panel or motor resistor. Is it still on?
3. My neighbour had a look at my anti-freeze container, seemed all empty and couldn't see any fluid level as it's yellow makes it even hard to see the level. ( can i put something more visible colour, blue or pink antifreeze? Pls recommend what brand to buy) Use silicate free which is usually pink or yellow. Don't use blue
4. Someone mentioned of 2 min job to replace the pollution filter, easy enough for me to change. :? Yes. lift the bonnet, and look into the void at the back of where the two bonnet vents close down. Search the site for pollen filter. I posted a couple of pics and I'm sure there are others

Ask your friends for a recommendation for a good independant garage

Thank you both, I tried to pay a bit more attention when i'm driving so i can hear and feel if the problems presist.

Forgot to mention, i don't drive my car much, only 10 mins drive to work and back and sometimes just leave at home. Only about half an hour driving on the weekend just to keep the battery running.

1. The squeaking sound doesn't seem to come on anymore or only very ocasionally.
2. Hot air blowing out from car air vents - I noticed when i started this morning as it's raining and cool, the car was fine and no hot air blowing out but when it's hot in the afternoon after the car has been runnning, the hot air was definitely blowing out frm the vents. What's the likely problem causing it?

I also looked at the meter panel, the coolant temperature indicator and the engine oil temperature indicator are always on 90 or slightly above. There's no warning lights on so i presumed it's ok until i felt the air hot blowing out the vents.

3. Will look at the pollen filter when it's not raining. Thank you.

I only have my car for 6mths and really love it and hopefully i can keep it running for a long long time.

Thank you. k
