206CC 2003 ROOF WILL NOT OPEN

Post by Jollyjack »

Roof has been working fine until this morning, have checked that screen is open in the boot white loops in correct position, roof clips make noise when opened, windows do not go down when holding roof open switch, there is no beeping noise, but I do get some sort of continuous noise from the steering column when I hold the roof open switch - the only thing that has changed since last time the roof was down is that I have used a pressure washer to clean the engine and the undersides of the car - please help
Thanks for your replies - the vehicle is a Peugeot 206CC 2003 1.6cc :?

It's never a good idea to pressure wash a modern engine. Sounds like water has got in somewhere. The BSI is near the steering column if you have a plexed car, but you don't give the year, so it's a guess.
I would leave a fan heater in drivers footwell for an hour or two, facing up behind pedals to see if it will dry out.
Cheers Col.

Thanks for your kind remarks unfortunately even after a few days of drying out the roof will still not operate, the bleeps go when releasing the roof clips then nothing, anymore suggestions before I have to go to a Peugeot dealer, because the sun is on it's way hopefully, thanks :(

Where are you located? Could you put your location in your profile? There might be someone local who could help (saves lots of asking in future too).

My wife had the same problem and I traced to the rear screen in the boot compartment, on the L/h side as you look in at the end of the screen there's a small rubber plug which inserts into the screen rod, this then clips into the holder and operates the micro switch for the roof confirming the screens in place, I popped the rubber plug back into the rod and clipped into the holder and rood operates fine, otherwise your micro switch may be damaged worth checking

WELL WELL WELL..............Thanks for all the excellent responses - BUT my wife kept saying she has read many times on this site that if the vehicle stands for any length of time the roof does not work...SO this morning we took her for a run and I could not believe it, that after a couple of miles we stopped and the roof worked perfectly - so there you go............
