exhaust diameter

Post by angledangle »

Hi . Angus here with 2001 2.0 petrol SE . I have a crack in the pipe just after the cat before it enters the middle box . I was going to put a sleeve over it . Theres no support in the gearbox type tunnel area so it can sag . I wondered if anyone knew the pipe size as a sleeve repair kit would allow extra support . Would measure my own but in my truck till Wednesday so cant access it .seems a shame to buy a whole cat when the problem is the pipe that comes out . Reckon its 2" or 2.5" does anyone know .
Apart from this minor flaw cars been ace and its one of three peugeots in the family .
Last convertible I had was clk and prefer this to it .cars great for parking and just a fun little thing .
Will upload a pic when I can work out pixel size . :)

Not sure of Dia, but why not take it off and get it welded. Those wrap around, jubilee clipped thingies don't work well if that is what you are thinking of using.
Cheers Col.

Hiya . I'm going to use a stainless section of pipe with cut ends and proper U bolt clamps . They are well made and have used one before on another vehicle .
Theres a great deal of movement because before the cat is a flexi section so the fact that if I welded it it might weaken the other areas close by . The steel sleeve idea makes the material twice as thick . Ive got enough pipe to not interfere with lamdasensor so hence just clamping sleeve over ooriginal pipe .
