Oil tank capacity 1.6l petrol

Post by shep1001 »

Hi All.

Please could somebody confirm the capacity of the oil tank for the 1.6l petrol engine. The handbook says 3 litres but this seems quite a small quantity?

Also does anybody know the Peugeot part number for the oil filter cartridge, don't want to use an aftermarket I want to go with a proper Pug item, sending the Mrs to sort this so want to send her armed with the part number to make sure she comes back with the correct parts

I wouldn't disagree with the handbook but I buy the Total Quartz 9000 5w40 oil in 5 litre containers and refill the engine oil until the level is correct on the dipstick. I always check again and top up after starting the engine for a few seconds to refill the new filter.

I last bought a filter in 2013 from Robins & Day in Leicester. The invoice shows P00001109K and it cost £11.23 + VAT. They normally identify the correct part by asking for my car registration number.

Thank You Grandadmonkey, thats the part I thought it was & I have 5 litres of that oil on order. Expensive month for the Pug this month to keep her in tip top condition, discs & pads on the front + 4 new boots!!

Thanks Andrew

Update: Did the oil and filter change today as I was on a roll after doing the discs & pads. No drama, all pretty easy although whoever did the sump plug & filter housing up got a bit carried away as they were mega tight and nowhere near what the book reference tightness.

27mm socket needed to take the filter housing off and a 24mm socket for the sump plug

Oil Filter & O-ring seal was part no: 1109.CK - £0.99 off ebay for a genuine Pug filter!!
Sump plug washer was part no: 016488 - £1.40 Peugeot
3 litres of Total quartz 5w 40 fully synthetic oil: £24.00 for 5 litres

Hope the filter WAS genuine. If you have any problems with oil pressure do bear in mind that some none genuine filters have been known to collapse.

Came boxed with the receipt. The person selling it had purchased all the bits to service his Pug then stacked it before he had chance to fit them :(
