Roof Conundrum *FIXED*

Post by ickabod »

Had a faulty roof problem which turned out to be drivers side microswitch,in the meantime, tried other solutions including turning allen key in boot.Ive now replaced faulty microswitch and got the bong, but after windows went down, parcel shelf and roof moved about quarter an inch and all stopped.Motor was spinning but no roof movement.
I have no pull cord, but went ahead with manual reset anyway.Loosened pressure with allen key.Turned the white hoops in boot, lifted boot upwards, lifted roof up and into boot, but boot wouldnt close tight at the two latches. Now i get no bong,no motor noise, nothing,is there a specific way to set pressure relief valve as i think this may be cause.I have moved hoops both ways.
I still cant get the two boot latches to go tight closed also.Any ideas?
Thanks,Steve.

Try undoing the latches, then getting an assistant (or 2) to press down on the corners of the boot lid nearest the roof pillars while you operate the switch to finish the roof up cycle.
Hopefully you'll be able to hear it click into place, and then will be good to go again.
You may need to put all the windows fully down before this can work.
Failing that, put your location in your profile and post results to see if anyone nearby with Peugeot Planet 2000 can do a diagnostic for you.

Aha, now Lincoln is within striking distance of me (especially now that they've improved the A46).
See if the above suggestions work. If not, and you can pop down, I may be able to sort it for you.

Just nip it up. It's brass so don't over do it.

Same issue I had after a roof cycle started and didnt complete (dont ask, it was my fault :D )

Close everything up, open the boot (normal way) then look at the latches for the boot lid. You will see there is a kind of locking latch the engages with the C shaped lid latches.

Slacken the allen key on the pum then use a screwdriver to apply steady pressure to these lock latches to close them against the C shaped lid latches.

Tighten the allen key, close the boot and try again. (make sure the white pegs are in the auto position.

Good luck.

As long as water isn't falling out of the sky, the roof can be down.

Thanks guys. When i lock latches together, they dont seem to want to stay that way,and when i look into back window, the small plastic parcel shelf that goes against the back seats is about half inch away.cant remember if that goes tight against back seats.

Right ,just had another go.Finaly got white latches to stay in the lock position by turning hoops to auto and leaving them there.I now get bong again ,windows come down, but motor sounds for a few seconds but nothing happens.Any ideas?Steve

Also plenty fluid in res,and allen key nipped up.Tried to move the boot manually(very gingerly) with allen key nipped up and felt lots of resistance, just to check relief valve working.Slacken allen key and all goes loose again so guess thats ok.

Steve came to visit me tonight. Spent about 3 hours on his roof without success - even resorted to climbing in the boot with a torch at one point!
Seems to build up a reasonable amount of pressure, but crucially isn't attempting to move either the boot lid or roof.
Couldn't get front corner boot lid latches to close at the end of the cycle.
Starting to get deeply suspicious of pump...

Story so far......attempted roof repair at Neils,to no avail (big thanks to Neil for giving up his time for a complete stranger, great guy!).The problem seems to lie in the two latches at front of boot,no matter how much weight,or way the hoops were,it just wont lock. When the hoops are put to manual, and the white tips are engaged to the latches, they dont stay there.Seems like theres no slack to be had at that point, even with prf undone, and white tips dont stay caught.
Any ideas?

Quick update,
new pump put in place and straight away boot latches lock upon pressing button :)
Now,we unlock roof catches and get bong, windows go down, but thats as far as it wants to go.When i try to manualy unlock boot latches, these are now stuck in the lock position. Can anyone think as to why it seems that something is stuck so its not letting boot open for roof.Thanks.
