Hi All,
Can someone please help me discover what is wrong with my car?
I have an 05 206 Sport 1.4 with 78,000 miles.
I bought this car in August, it passed its mot, with a note to say that there was a slight emissions leak from the engine and so the engine light was on.
I had to replace a section of the exhaust in October and they checked the engine at the same time and said it was fine. They turned the engine light off but a few weeks later it came back on.
At the weekend, it did quite a few miles on the motorway, my car has been running completely fine but on the way home, the oil light started flashing, with only a few miles left i went home and filled the oil in the morning. Later in the day I went on a trip on the motorway, 5mins in and a large bang and a huge cloud of white smoke come out of the exhaust and car has overheated. I pulled over and let the car cool down.
The car now, rev's a lot in low gears, jutters a lot when sat in traffic, feels like it is going to stall in higher gears, not much power when changing gears, a lot of white smoke when first start up and when taking off in first or second gear and the temp keeps going up and down.
Anyone know what the problem is please?

Re: What is the Problem?
Wow! Where to start?
How low was the oil / how much did you put in?
Did it go from normal to overheat nearly instantly, or did temp creep up?
What is the coolant level like / have you had to top it up?
Are there any unusual noises from engine like a knocking noise?
What do you mean by revs a lot in low gears? Do you mean by itself?
EDIT: Is this 1.4 petrol or HDI?

Exhaust valve? The spark plugs will tell a story.
