Wing removal
I have a 2002 plate, does anyone know if the wings are bolted on or welded? Have recently been hit in drivers wing and can buy a replacement relatively cheaply but would like to know if the swap over is going to be the costly part or not??

Re: Wing removal
They're bolted, but there's a line of adhesive that runs along the top, so they need to be removed carefully.
No special tools needed though, so no extra costs there.

Re: Wing removal
Make sure it's the right version of wing ... there are two types: Sport which has a wider arch and different front edge and standard. Think most CCs use Sport wings unless it's already been bodged and has standard wings which are much cheaper.Bootyx67 wrote:I have a 2002 plate, does anyone know if the wings are bolted on or welded? Re: Wing removal
That's assuming it's the front wing, as Booty hasn't said.
Rear wing is welded.
Rear wing is welded.

Thank you people! It's the drivers front wing.

Gazza, as far as I know it's the original wing on the car.....how would I know the difference between the sport or standard wing? Is there a tell tale sign to look out for do you know?

Re: Wing removal
If you compare pics of a CC or GTi with a basic model you'll see the extra flaring over the wheel arch.Try Google images or even ebay.
There was IIRC a thread on here where a CC had been fitted with standard wings and a non-sport front bumper.
We sssumed cheap accident repair.
