Hi,
forgive me, this is probably a terribly newbie question - my drivers side wing mirror has been pushed really far forwards and I can't push it back.. It's firmly stuck and I'm nervous about forcing it too hard. Is there a way I can loosen it somehow? Untighten something? It's literally got the mirror pointing straight out from the car.. I and unfortunately I do a lot of motorway driving, so I'm really missing the mirror..
Please tell me exactly what I need to do - I'm crap at fixing things!
It's a 2003 if that makes a difference?
Thank you so much!
G

Re: Hello and help- stuck wing mirror
If it's not already broken then force it backwards while pushing it towards the door. If it is broken you will need to change it anyway. You have nothing to lose

Re: Hello and help- stuck wing mirror
It's definitely not broken, it's just incredibly stiff. It's always been stiff, in fact I've rarely been able to retract it when parked up. Now it's pushed forward, it's even worse! I don't think I'm physically strong enough to force it back, hence I was hoping there was something I could loosen up to help me out
thank you

Try giving the point that it hinges at a squirt of plus gas.
Cheers Col.

...Or WD40. It might even be worth popping out the mirror glass (use a wooden spatula or something to gently lever it out - nothing too hard and narrow or you risk breaking the glass), and then having a good squirt at the hinge from the inside.

Re: Hello and help- stuck wing mirror
After spraying the pivot point area liberally with WD40 or PlusGas apply light upward pressure on the door mirror while pushing it back into position. Do it in little pushes, i.e. apply pressure and release, apply pressure and release, until it gives.
When you have it working properly again, lubricate it with some silicon grease spray. Wipe off any runs of spray/lubricant from the bodywork before it stains.
Good luck - let us know how you get on.
