stereo wont turn off

hi ive bought a car thats just had the stereo changed but it wont turn of when the ignition is off so im having to take the face plate out,any help would be great regards shell

There are 2 positive feeds to the stereo - one is supposed to be a constant live for the memory, and the other is switched on and off by the ignition.
It sounds like some monkey has wired both into the first.
Should be a simple matter of radio out, find the un-connected feed and the 2 spliced into 1, and put them 1 to 1. You might even be lucky enough to find that the colour coded wires match.

Behind the radio the wiring is wrong.
You have to get the radio out to get to the wiring.
Then, you need to look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connectors_for_car_audio
Study the wiring diagram below the picture.
The "B" plug is just for the speakers - you can ignore it.
But on the "A" plug, some numpty has decided that it would be clever to join A4 and A7 together.
You need to find the join (it should be fairly obvious), split the 2 wrongly connected wires apart, and correct them as per the diagram.
Then it should work perfectly.
