I've been experiencing a problem with the bonnet of my car recently. On the in car display panel it's showing that the bonnet is "open" but in actual fact it isn't. Thus the remote central locking won't work properly to lock the car. So i've had to lock the car via the door so the alarm won't go off.
I've been told to change the battery in my remote key to see if that will help. Failing that i've also been told to use WD40 on the bonnet clip to see if that will help.
Can anyone tell me if these two things will sort teh problem out or suggest anything else i can try before i take it to a garage for them to look at it?
Many thanks in advance

Re: Bonnet is "open" on in car display
Neither of those options is likely to sort out the problem. You probably need a need bonnet "pin switch"
It works on a similar principle as the switch that turns your interior light on when you open the door. I can't remember if this is part of the latching mechanism or a seperate switch. I can look at our tomorrow to check if you are stuck.
