do i HAVE to keep my hand on the button while it retracts? or is it possible to take ya hand off?

Yep keep ya hand on it!
It isn't even advised to stop it half way to take a photo as this messes up the memory and it confuses itself and can lead to further problems!

i too was told to KEEP your finger ON the button. Also, wait until the roof has finished totally when you put it UP and you hear the beep before fixing clamps in the corners. it can have a headfit if you fix them the second the roof touches home.
