Over the past week I have been getting various warning messages when starting my car. For example, when starting from cold I have been getting a "Handbrake on" message which I don't recall seeing before...of the course the handbrake is on as I've only just started the car!
When starting after the car has been stationary for a short while, I hear the chime, the same one you hear when the roof has finished closing.
As far as I know the battery is still the original so I know I have probably done well with it up until now. I could go and get a diagnostic, but if the symptoms point to the battery failing I would rather just go and buy a new one. Any thoughts guys?

Re: Failing battery?
Should have said, the car is 7 years old next month.
It does seem to struggle to start after it's been standing for a while, however, I connected a trickle charger the other night to see if I could top it up and the meter indicated it wasn't that low???

Re: Failing battery?
Hi redkev, thanks for your interest. I am happy to say that it was the battery! I priced up a replacement with my local dealer as I was aware that some batteries may not fit as well as those supplied by the dealer. I was told batteries were on offer currently and the battery I needed would normally cost £82.84 inc. VAT, but they would sell it to me for £51.77 inc. VAT, I didn't think the price was bad considering the cheapest one at Halfords was £90.
As a diagnostic would cost me over £40 I thought I would gamble on it being the battery and it paid off. I fitted it last night and gave the car a good run. It fired up no problem this morning and no more audible chimes!
The embarrassing part was, after I had picked up the battery from the trade counter, I returned to my car and put the key in the ignition and...nothing! Fortunately one of the sales guys was around and saw my dilemma and brought one of those fast chargers over which allowed me to limp home
Fingers crossed that's it for a while or I'm going to be on first name terms with the local Peugeot parts department!
Thank you Andrew at Perry's Peugeot, by the way!
