Well first things first Im new to the site so please be gentle. Yesterday I purchased a 1999 Peugeot 206 and im very pleased with my purchase.

However this is a couple of things that are bothering me im hoping someone could help me find a way to diagnose the problems.

1. The cigatette lighter does not have any power going to it.

2. The multifunction display is not displaying or functioning (ha ha), no clock no temp. Zilch

3. the alarm keeps going off when i dead lock it.

Here is some information that may help, the car has an aftermarket stereo fitted not a very good one at that, im gonna see if i can buy an original as there is a 6cd changer in the boot im guessing this worked with the original. im assuming the button im pressing on my keyfob is the dead lock button to be honest i dont have a clue, I lock the car with just the one button and no alarm i dead lock it and i get alarm.

Hope someone out there could provide some informaton out there, I have managed to find a guide to try and repair the MFD however I could really do with any additional checks first.

many thanks

1) cigarette lighter - Controlled by 2 fuses in the passenger compartment Fuse 23A + Fuse 23B). One via ignition and one directly from car battery. Check to see if they have blown. Otherwise possibly a dead cigarette lighter. Not expensive or difficult to replace.

2) MFD. Are the bulbs blown. If not then the circuit bloard has a fault and needs changing. Also check fuses in passenger compartment. I flound a MFD for £20 at my local breakers. (same MFD as in normal 206's).

3) Sounds like the ultrasonic sensors are either too sensitive or faulty. Do you have a button to the right of youre steering wheel with a small led on it. If so, when leaving the car remove the key from the ignition and press and hold that button within 5 seconds of removing the key. A light will come on at the front of the hazard warning light. Get out of the car and set alarm. The ultrasonic sensors will be disabled but the door sensors will still be active. That way you can see if the alarm still goes off. Then you can rule out the microswitches on the doors and boot catch to see if they are faulty.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. So as it happens the cigarette ligther was not getting any power, took of the center console and found the problem straight away, it wasnt connected goodness, have not connected it yet because im not sure why it was disconected in the first place I guess ill have to connect it and find out..

As for the MFD, i took out the display turned on my igntition and it lit up. I checked the bulbs they had all blow went to dealer and got 4 more put them in put the cover on the top and black again. took the cover off and it lit up.

Now would i be ok thinking the mfd is working there just happens to be a problem with power getting to the bulbs.

An input again would be appreciated.

As for the alarm have still not looked into this one i think I will try and repair one thing at a time, Although i have noticed that the drivers door does not seem to close properly. ? could wind be getting in and causing the sensors to activate/
