Hi Everyone,
Just dropping a message about a problem with my 206cc 2.0. (03 reg)
I purchased the car second hand last year from a Trust Volkswagon dealership in Reddich (near Birmingham UK).
I was promised that the car was in excellent condition but when I got i was driving it home I found the brakes to be a bit sloppy so took it to a mechanic friend who advised that the reason was that the brakes were no existant and should not have been on the road.
due to the distannce involved between the dealership and where I live I decided against making a fuss (very british) and just paid for all new brakes.
Up to present date
Last night my battery died and I called the AA who opened the hood and commented that the battery was a bit small for the size of car.
It turns out that the dealership had for whatever reason changed the battery for a smaller (cheaper) one and stuck a piece of wood underneath the battery to make it fit in the cradle.
I purchased a new battery (which also solved the cars shaking issue whenever I started the car)
Due to it being a over a year since I bought the car, I have no recourse against the dealership but I wanted to make everyone aware of what type of company this dealership is, especially operating under a brand name like Volkswagon.
I would now never buy a car without having an independant inspection regardless as to whether it is a "trusted" brand name or if its a "guy around the corner" selling his car.
I still love the car inspite of its little problems.

Welcome to the forum matdevine.
You should have taken the car back to Redditch VW with the brakes issue. That dealership has a 100% score on customer feedback and I'm pretty sure they'd have looked after you.
The battery issue is a common one. The o.e.m. battery is taller than many of the after-market replacements and the wood trick enables the latter to be used.
Those issues apart I wish you well in your future 206cc experiences.
