Headlight and electrical cut outs

Hi All,

We bought our 52 206 1.4 in May and have some quirky problems which are esculating so would appreciate some help!

Initially we would be indicating and without warning the headlights would just come on and stay on even though we haven't touched the indicator stick, flashing the oncoming cars! We found that if we put the side lights on this wouldn't happen so we now drive with our side lights on constantly!

We have also had several incidents where all electrical power would cut out and the digital display has reset itself back to 01/01/2000 and the time to 00.00, it has also changed the radio from our local radio station to radio one. In the last two weeks the car has cut out five or six times, whilst we were stationary; coming to a stop; turning; but luckily not at high speed. Some of the times we have had a quick warning beep just before it cuts out. Our only course of action is to restart the engine, however other times the car has recovered itself without having to turn the engine over.

We know we need to take the car somewhere, but would appreciate some ideas of what is likely to be needed or is it possible to do something ourselves?

We don't have the 1.4 petrol engine in the 206cc. Just the 1.6 and 2.0 litre.
