I just got my used Peugeot 206 cc (2003/68000km) and i noticed that the brakes squeaks when i brake. When i press the brake lightly, it squeaks but when i press harder, the squeaks disappears.
Friends told me that it could be,
1. The disc is rusty due to lack of driving
2. The brake pad has thinned out
3. The disc need grinding
Which one is it?

Could be any or none. 206cc's are known for squealing brakes. Squealing is the result of resonance and when you press harder on yours the frequency of the resonance changes so the noise disappears. Can work the other way round though. There are many posts on this subject.
