Only really noticed this the other day when I borrowed my Dad's Astra and then went back into my 206cc

The acceleration from traffic lights for instance does not seem to be that good

I'm no boy racer but you cant seem to burn anybody off from the lights - I have a 1.6

Just wondering if it's just mine!

Perhaps you'd better change your name to Fizzled Phoenix! Our 1.6 isn't that quick either. Slower than a 1.6 hatch even, because of the extra weight of the roof mechanism I guess. Anyway I don't bother with trying to out-drag anyone unless they're on a moped.
My Merc C280 was quick (and thirsty at 28mpg), my Golf is quick too (and economical at 50+ mpg), but in neither could you cruise along with the sun on your head and the wind through your hair (what's left of mine!).

You should get yourself a 2.0!

Ok its not the quickest in the garage, but still good fun in its own way. Golf drivers seem to have a real problem with my car and I love to p!$hh them off.

I am glad its not just my car that is slow off the line. Is there anything we should do about it or is it just a quirk of the car?
