Car won't start!

I have had my 206cc 1.6 for 2 months and have had absolutely no problems with it until today! I drove to work this morning and it was fine, drove home and it was fine, got in it to go out an hour ago and it wouldn't start! There was absolutely nothing! All it did when I turned the key was make a clunking noise under the bonnet! Eventually after trying for 5 mins it started, i drove it, got back home, left it for 10 mins tried it again and nothing! Please help!

How old is the car? Did you buy it from a Peugeot dealer? How many miles? When last serviced? Have you been operating the roof without the engine running?
Any information about the car would help...
Could be battery connections, battery, earth connection, leads to starter motor, starter motor itself, or charging system.
