Hello villan,
Welcome to the forum. No you're not boring.
There are plenty of posts on here if you use the search facility specifying "manifold" as I'm sure you have found out. So there has been plenty of discussion for you to read. If someone has something new to add I'm sure they will.
I'm glad you are getting it sorted under warranty. As you have found out a faulty manifold can cause misfiring. Let's hope it hasn't already damaged your catalytic converter. An exhaust gas analysis should tell you this after the repairs have been carried out. Ask Peugeot to show you the printout.
Best Wishes, Ron

My exhaust too is blowy in a boy racer sense and not something I want, only a couple of drives so far with the roof down am already convinced people are pointing and talking about me :rotfl:

Peugeot told me as this exhaust is not genuine and that the cat was broke it would cost me £826 parts only. And that I could source a cheaper version but these tend to last around a year and I was free to try this and they guaranteed they wouldnt say 'I told you so' when I go back to them asking for a genuine part :drunk:

Took it to Kwik Fit just for another opinion and as my mechanic friend who is now taking my acr MOnday was snowed under with work. They told me there was nothing wrong with my exhaust, it was just blowy because it was an 'after market exhaust' - was slightly odd as a couple of times I heard the exhaust make those backfire noises and sutt seems to of appeared on the end of the exhaust on the chrome bit, also the smell of sutt after driving and unloading the boot or when roof down and in traffic:(

See what happens Monday - see if it same /similar

They are looking and pointing at you because they are jealous of your gorgeous motor!

Kwik Fit usually get bad press, glad to hear they didn't try to rip you off. I bought and had new tyres fitted by them this week, they were a good price as Continentals are on offer but they didn't fit the ones I requested

Is the exhaust blowing anywhere ?

Or is the noise coming from somwhere between the manifold and Cat.

If thats the case it might be the flange/clamp is loose holding the downpipe to the cat from the manifold. Is it worse at full throttle ?

I had this problem and tightening the nut on the flange made it purr like a baby.

Dont get a peugeot exhaust as its a rip off.

I got one from cats2u.com. Very good price and better emissions than the peugeot one.

If I am totally honest I havent got a clue when it comes to cars, with that I havent even looked underneath to see where the noise is coming from as I dont have a clue at what I'm looking for/at:popping:.

I read your post about the flange/clamp on another thread, its not a banging or rattling noise. When the roof is up I cant hear anything, with recent repairs on suspension arms with roof up car is smooth and sounds as it should, quite and smooth.

When roof is down, thats when you hear the blowy exhaust, like what villan says, an exhaust that sounds like what some guys do on purpose.

One thing that popped up today whilst waiting outside a friends house was as I waited 5 mins the car started to rev by itself. We went shopping got back to the car and started it and it did one long loud rev for about 15-20 seconds?
Again I do not know what advice I'm looking for if what I read is right, but going through search on this forum a couple of other people who complain of car rev'ing by itself laters turns out to be a fault with the cat?

Yes you did recommend cats2u.co.uk and my friend whos the mechanic said it was a very good, reasonable price - I was tempted to buy it straight away but he has told me to hang fire, let him look at it Monday and see whats what.

I just know as soon as its all fixed and I can get on the road (fully) we will have the wetest summer on record :yikes::rotfl::thumbs:

Ok I have just gone out to have a look. I started her up and got on the floor.
No noise around the front passenger area
No noise around back seats area

Now I havent got a clue what I am talking about, but the chrome end of the exhaust sounded blowy/noisy.
I saw a steel box just past the chrome end and that didnt appear to be making the noise.
The noise was just very loud from the chrome end whether it is this or if the noise is further down the exhaust and is just amplified and expelled from the end? There wasnt smoke coming from exhaust but was a very very slight white/grey smoke on start up, I tried to take a picture but it dosent show in picture but I did see it - whether this is an early indication to something or normal?
Pic enclosed below - (not that its much help or out of the ordinary), the bottom of the chrome area has become sutty :drunk:

Hi,

I'm going to buy a 2002 206cc 2.0 SE tomorrow and the dealer has replaced the coilpack and CAT due to the engine mis-firing. He's also warned me that it's still mis-firing slightly from cold but once warmed up after a couple of mins it goes away. I'm going to have a look at it and see if I can figure out whether it's worth taking or if I should leave it. He thinks it might be the lambda or O2 or oxygen sensor playing up as this will affect the fuel/air mixture and can cause mis-fires, idling/stalling issues and surging from the engine.

This is easily the best article I've ever read on Lambda sensors and explains everything you need to know about them:
http://www.picoauto.com/applications/lambda-sensor.html

I'm going to listen to the car tomorrow and give it some serious thought, it was making a blowing noise last time I test-drove it but hopefully a replacement CAT might have solved that. If your mechanic friend has your car at the moment, get him (or her) to check the voltage on the lambda sensor as described in the article. I'm not very mechanically minded but I know how a car is supposed to sound and feel when driving and I'm hoping my 206cc is going to be ok tomorrow!

Hi Nick thanks for your 1 post in reply to my query - I have driven it a week now with a whole new exhaust and cat and not noise or misfiring noises as of yet.
He did replace a sensor, he said it was a temperature sensor, I didnt really ask at the time for specific details, I was just so excited at getting the car back :drunk:

Good luck with your test drive, do let us know how you get on

Nick,
If it misfires from cold but improves as it gets warm then I'd suspect that it'll be the usual hydraulic tappets problem that afflicts the 2.0 litre models.
Replacement costs several hundred pounds.

Thanks Grandadmonkey. Went to look at the car again today and Peugeot think it's such a small misfire that it's probably the sensors on their way out. The dealer has agreed to cover it if it is that and the warranty covers the engine if it's tappits. Decided take a risk and buy it anyway as it's such a cool looking car and I can't fault it in any other way (yet) !
