My dealer told me (that should explain it really....) that when you come to sell an import, they can track it as being imported, and you can loose about 30% of the value.. Is this right?
Jonathan - you caused no trouble!
I think that you have answered your own question here. The UK dealer has a vested interest in selling you a car himself - it's perhaps not surprising that he'll talk down the value of an imported car.
Sure an imported car can loose about 30% of its value - but a UK car could loose even more.
As we've all said in the past, each and every view point is the privilage of a free forum. Derek's publicised in the past his full reasons why he personally wouldn't buy an import as have I before I changed my mind and bought one. I won't go into details as someone searching under imports should be able to read these posts.
What newcomers have to understand is the humour of members that is particular to each and every forum before jumping to conclusions, getting things arse about tit and typing away personal comments about people in the main discussions area of the forum.
Derek is infamous for his dry sense of humour and anyone bothering to look first to understand how the forum works would realise this and read between the lines of one liner comments before making a flaming post.
So as Lion King got rather personal with Derek in the main forum with what was only a first post, I think an apology from Lion King to Derek is the order of the day
Nah, wear your black snake skin hustler boots (I've got the evidence guys)...
Ooooh! As this is an anything goes bit, can I say arse without it being filtered to a**e??? Let's see - Arsenal, Arsen Wenger... I could get to like this
