I gotta say that the S2000 is up there with the rest of 'em, but those seats are SO restrictive, perhaps that's why I've seen majority women drivers ? I would take each car on its merits and not write off a brand "just 'cos", Germans make some very reliable, safe, well styled cars. Japs also make very reliable (not sure on other points !) cars. I am not a fan of the whole Evo or Scooby thang, closest I came was considering a Civic type-R (still one of givers-of-biggest-cheesey-grin cars I have driven to date !). Porkers are overpriced, yes - a mate bought his Boxster-S 9 months ago for £46K (well loaded, and maybe a little too pricey) and wanted to trade it for a new 911 Carerra4 last w/end, was offered £33K for it by the same garage he originally got it from in p/x against the 911. God this is thread is going all petrol-head.

(Thanks for the good-luck wishes Robbie...)

A4 Cabrio looks a bit slab-sided IMHO, but still a nice car.

Have you (the original poster) considered either a Lotus Elise or a Vauxhall VX220 Turbo (coming soon)? For the Vauxhall, it might be better to import as then you'll get an Opel Speedster without the crass Vauxhall grille on it :yuck:

OK, I've comlpetely changed my mind now! I don't want the Beemer or the TT anymore! The beemer is too old, and the TT is too small (you can't even fit a sportsbag in the boot!)

Three FINAL options...

Civic Type R
Audi S3 225 Quattro
Honda S2000

What do you reckon??

If your going for an S2000, the new latest model has had quite a few changes to suspension etc.

I dont what the changes are exactly or when they where done but I do remember reading in a motoring magazine something along the lines of.....

Original S2000 Stunning technology but flawed, new one is brilliant, all probelms sorted out.

I think it has something to do with how tail happy the original ones where, ride quality, and delivery of power.

Hope this helps.

I would go for the S2000 but out of the list.

Me too (S2000 that is).

I can't help noticing that the first two options aren't convertibles
Considered a WRX with the Prodrive performance pack (announced today). £19,995 for the WRX, £1600 for the PPP, 265P, 257 lb/ft torque IIRC. I would have suggested it earlier, but it's only now you've revealed that you're interested in the Civic Type R that I feel I can suggest other ugly cars :D

S3 is showing its age :(

Yes they have improved the handling of the S2000 this year (previous version was more than entertaining in the wet :yikes: ) and have made some other changes, glass/heated rear screen, some cosmetic interior changes and cd player.
Nice size boot but you dont get anywhere in the cabin to put anything, no door pockets, no glovebox. Just the one small locker between the seats.
Its going to be my next car, unless i give in to the boxster :)

Have you looked at the Z4?

jim -- the Z4 makes my car look beautiful.
I think one day it will come out that Chris Bangle (Z4 and 7-series designer) is registered blind :D

I quite like the exterior of the Z4 but the interiors too spartan and minimilistic for me, I like the inside of a car to look like a cocckpit with lots of buttons to play with. :D

Hmmm, if i had my way, you would have to prove you needed a 4x4 before they would let you buy one, and they would be made even less attractive, in order to discourage people :D
