hey you know they have the "special" colour only washing powders......

its exactly the same as the ordinary ones just a few quid more expensive......

so i wouldnt put it past shell doing it for their petrol......

i buy whatever petrol is the cheapest, which is normally the local BP garage at 73.9p today compared to the nearest shell at 75.9p and Esso inbetween 74.9p

1p makes a difference over the year
MMMMmmmmmm V-TEC u gotta love it :)

I believe that there is a slight improvement in fuel economy and more importantly in performance. I have also done several comparisons with tanks of both Optimax versus cheap (yeah that’s a laugh! (87% TAX!) Supermarket petrol.

The fact that Shell Optimax has the highest RON rating available at the pumps cannot be disputed!. Which means that engines compression ratio is higher than is possible with any other unleaded brand. That equals more power from your engine. These are irrefutable facts! Whether you believe that the price/versus extra gain is justifiable is a personal choice.

Exactly! And based on my experience, it's definitely worth it for me.

I got this problem with my 1.6 but it doesn't happen as much now so must be getting used to it. One thing I did find was that it didn't happen when I had to fill up from the opposite side ie. near side of car next to pump with fuel filler cap furthest away.

Doesn't it annoy you when people create a queue on the forecourt because they "must" have the fuel filler next to the pump. Usually women! And before I get any comments I am woman!

Yep is does anoy me ! but to be fair a surprising amount of drivers don't even realise that you can do this !. Maybe it should be highlighted in the new theory test !!!!!!!!! :)

On most of the fuel pumps here (in Oz) the hose isn't long enough to do that so you have to be on the right side!!!

How dumb is that!!!!!

I gues it's to be expected Matt. Remember our friends in the UK are paying around 2.5 times the price we are for petrol. Maybe the longer hose is due to more revenue - doubt it though as I'd guess most of the money is going into the hands of the tax man (just like here)!

maybe the reason for the 4p difference between NUL & Optimax is that you guys are getting ripped off down in england

Optimax is 78.9p but NUL is only 71.9p

I had the same problem with a gas station in germany. However in Holland I did not have that problem. It seems to differ from station to station.

Further, I let the nozzle lean on the bottom site of de 'insertion hole' so to speak. This seems to work fine. I usually press the pomp twice more.
