I heard from an acquaintance of me that it's more common to borrow for a car in the UK?
A friend of me did it for his megane coupe, for about 11.000 eur. he pais 235 Eur. a month for it.
I see some of you are paying over 400 pounds? thats more than 550 bloody Euro's
And that without insurance, petrol, maintainance?
Why not lease one for that amount?
If i didnt have the money, no way i'd buy me one!
Ok, some of you put it on the mortgage, that makes a little bit sense.
But what happens if you sell the car or want to get rid of your loan? then you have to pay a fine for paying it off early i guess?
Oh and Cappy of course it's none of my business, but why not buy a more simple car which is a bit cheaper then the Type R, when you have to make another loan for it?
You already have nice car on the driveway now don't you?

I buy our cars on the credit cards these days and pay them off straight away when the bill comes.
But many years ago I do remember have a loan over 3 years that cost me £800 a month. I bought 2 soft tops then as well, but was single so they were both for me. But as I was young foolish and still living at home in those days it didnt matter.
Hence why I pay in full now, I aint doing that agian.

I got £13500 off my bank here in Uk and pay only £235 a month, well sustainable, even with the mortgage.
With the above amount, I got my CC (1.6 leather + full extras) in Italy, + paid for a full year insurance + a year road tax + I paid for my trip over to Uk with the car + I had some cash spare.......and as I said, if I feel the need to go back home, I can just bugger off and let the bank look for me.... muahahahhahaha. (not that I would do it really, just nice to have the option).
The loan has got no penalties for early repayment either.....

I plan on keeping mine beyond October thoughthe trade-in value on a 12 month old CC is WAY below what you probably believe....

Got 975 pounds off through jamjar and another 1100 pounds off via the HSBC credit car. PX'ed and financed the rest through me mortgage as I had a very low interest rate and could pay back at any period I liked. I then had the threat of redundancy hang over my head for the last 2 and half years so paid it off ASAP.
We have recently brought another new car. This time we paid for it on the credit card. And just transferred the balance to a 0% interest credit card for six months. The garage said we couldn’t pay on a credit card without a charge to us as they get charged for any transaction over 1000 pounds. Therefore we just paid for it in several 1000 pound installments.
At the end of the day a car is a waste of money. The way I look at it is you are just renting materialistic items such as cars and houses. The trick is to make the rent as low as possible. Hence get a low interest rate and pay off as quickly as possible. The CC is a car with max fun for minimum rent though.
