They have them .. whether they need them. Probably something to do with the recirculation system. My car doesn't have a lambda sensor so it's oblivious to the missing core.
The emissions test on a diesel is only a smoke-test so it's not going to pick up the missing cat as it don't check for CO, etc ... although the rules have changed so you can't remove the cat on many cars as it will now fail if one was originally fitted when it left the factory, it has to have one now. This is upsetting a lot of the "performance" and "tune-up" brigade that fit free-flow exhausts .. you can get "performance" cats with better flow, but they ain't cheap.
Anyway, new cat £389 plus VAT from Peugeot ... £100-125 after-market!

And P0382 is back ... perm fault now. So going Peugeot may not have been best move.
I'll talk to them Monday.
On top of that, but unrelated, my Alfa's n/s/r strut pan has collapsed so is sitting on trye. Couldn't get wheel and new tyre back on and then iI noticed the zero clearance. On space saver at moment to at least back it into garage. Still 16 years and 195175 miles iisn't a bad life so no Alfa jokes please ... and there's more in the old girl yet so need to replace those now ... never ends this car maintenance lark ! :-)

I've got two cars booked in for oil and filter services today. My son's Fiesta and his partner's Megane Scenic. I wonder which will be easiest....
Good luck with the Alfa. I prefer the work that I've got to do to that job.

Post script: The Fiesta was the easiest but only because there was no engine under-tray to take off and put back. 1 1/2 hours to do both - cost around £50 for the oils and filters.

When requesting help of a technical nature, please give as much detail of the fault as possible along with details of exact model, engine size & type, gearbox, year, mileage, and any relevant work carried out to try to solve the problem to help us help you.
Better still, put the details in your signature.
Update: gave the car a 'Parisian tune-up' ... same as an Italian one ie ragged it up the motorway ... and eml light went out and has stayed out for three days.
Belched out a lot of black smoke at first when hard on throttle pedal but that has subsided ... might nit be helped I don't has a cat/filter at the moment.
I'll see what happens over next few weeks ...
