I bought my lovely puggy bear because I fell in love with her; however after checking her over thoroughly at the garage I noticed the number plate and said to the guy I love that, pointing to the plate, he looked at it and said why? What is so good about it, its just a normal plate.

My nu,ber plate is pF** UKK I think it's fab. Would you see the swear word in it? I reckon he just lacked a sense of humour myself, cos no matter which way you say it it deffo says a swear word:)

Anyone else got any funnie plates?

Ours is **** DVT, not very fetching.

I remember saying to the salesman "I know that stands for something but can't think what", then when we were signing the papers for the car, I said "Deep vein thrombosis"

I can still see the strange look on the salesman's face!

The letters on my number plate spell ALCATRAZ (without the three letter A's).

I didn't notice this when I got the car but a friend pointed it out!

I live in france and to have a private reg is not possible and they dont really spell much so there a bit boring but from april 2007 we are allowed to have yellow or white ones on the back so might change the back one to a white one might look a bit more funky and look good on the silver 206 !!

I once knew someone in Lyon who had a car registered 1 FR 69 - I thought that looked really cool, like being the most important French person in Lyon! Now that many French departments are getting three letters in the middle I sometimes see ones that spell English words. In a way I hope personalised number plates in France don't catch on - the prices being asked in the UK are getting ridiculous!

I think you are right for the private reg that they shouldnt happen and that they are just for police and army and diplomats , i have the 3 numbers and three letters and the 60 on the end for the department picardie
Then again you can pick up cheap private regs in england for about 300 quid but they are with z o in them , i think they are irish plates .
i will be moving soon to department 02 so i will have to get new plates but whats mad is that when i will change my plates i will get the newest plates with the newest letters so it makes your car look newer than it is !!

I have a private plate on my Mercedes. Not an Irish one by the way. That way no-one can tell immediately how old it is! Cheaper than changing the car every two or three years to "keep up withthe Jones's".

The French system seems strange if when you move department you get brand new plates as if they were for a brand new car!

...even stranger in Germany: you will receive new plates if you move from one city to another city or if the buyer of a used car lives in another city. first 1-3 letters indicate the town - the less letters, the bigger the city, e.g. B for Berlin, M for Munich, F for Frankfurt/Main, K for Cologne, S for Stuttgart, HH for Hamburg. The rest might be a more or less "private" combination -extra charge approx. 20-30 EUR- or just a combination by chance - no extra charge. So you might combine Stuttgart "S-EX ####" or Munich "M-AD ####" "M-UC ####" and so forth. Mine is "M-AX ####"
