Replace Black Hoops with Stainless Steel Hoops

Hi there

I am considering buying some stainless steel rollover hoops from Ebay - someone in Holland/Belgium is selling them. What I need to know is are the old ones easy to take out? Do I just lift the circular thing and then pull or................?

Any advices greatly appreciated, especially if someone has alredy changed their standard black ones to silver and know of whereelse to get any from?

Its a case of -

Roof down,
Pull rear seats forward to reveal bolts,
Undo bolts and switch over hoops,
Do up bolts and enjoy

A very simple process, requires a bit of muscle to get those rear seats forward though.

Yes, we had these not long after buying the car. Quite an easy job with only a spanner needed.

Easy to do when you know how, We changed mine about 3 weeks ago, managed to get some hoops for £30, my boyfriend fitted them for me, didn't take long at all to fit once we worked out how to do it!

Aren't the original hoops a safety item, do the replacement hoops come up to standard?

My daughter has a 207cc which has stainless hoops as standard (and these "pop up" in the event of an accident).

My wife has just bought a 206cc with black hoops which I would like to replace but I don't want to compromise any safety aspects.

No, the hoops just bolt through the bodywork with a pair of bolts each, behind the seats. If they were structural they'd bolt to a substantial bit of the monocoque with some big bolts. I think the majority of the crash structure is in the reinforced A pillars around the windscreen.

does anybody know where to purchase chrome effect hoops?? i have the normal black plastic ones and would like to change them for chrome?

Forget the last post managed to purchase some chrome hopos from ebay, they look fantastic, id certainly recomend you upgrade to chrome,
