The Astra Twin Top is the best looking by a very long way. Is it just me or are most of these type of cars looking very "Samey"? Nobody apart from Vauxhall are showing imaginative designs. I'm very dissapointed with the VW. Boring lifeless Renault design with a cheap tacky interior, yet probably will be the most expensive one out of the lot. Whats happening with VW? A few years ago, all their cars were looking great but now the new lines just feel wrong with poorly designed interiors.

Whats the difference between models of the Eos and the 2 litre turbo is that diesel? do you know the mpg?
The Eos comes in two models, standard and sport. The sport has larger alloys (17" vs 16") stiffer suspension, a computer, a bit more chrome inside and out and alloy pedals like the 206cc se. You can get it with either 2 litre petrol (150bhp), 2 litre Petrol Turbo (200 bhp), or 2 litre Diesel Turbo (140 bhp). I think the mpg is very similar for both Petrol models (34 mppg combined). We had a quick look at the Diesel, but it did vibrate a bit - definitely preferred the Petrol.
What sort of price are you getting one for? Do they offer much of a discount? Whats the waiting time on one?
The 2 litre starts at 20,500, but by the time you've added leather and the sport model you are looking at 23,000. Nowhere seems to be offering discounts at the moment. Delivery is around 8-12 weeks.

Sorry if this sounds like I've swallowed the brochure - but we have spent some time looking at them :-)

Each to their own of course, but I thought the interior looked quite classy when I sat in it. Both the VW and the Twintop benefit from pert derrieres, because of their multi-piece roofs. I think the Renault's back end is larger - but then Renault do trade on that - at least for the Megane hatchback :-)

My preference would definitely be the astra, then megane, then 307. This is also keeping cost in mind, as the bmws and mercs are in a different range.

I saw one of those new mitsubishi colt cc's the other day, one ugly car.
