My brakes don't squeak anymore!!

Heya,

Right, I appear to have had the squeaky brakes problem fixed on my car. Yay!

I had 6000 miles on the clock. They were cleaned, no good. They were skimmed, no good.

Took 'em back to a different garage at around 7000 miles, they added shims (?!) which apparently cost £8.98 or something like that and I've driven nearly 1000 miles on them since without a single squeak. Yay!

If people need more detail ('cos I'm a bit useless), I'm prepared to ring the garage back up and get a detailed desciption of what they did but the word 'shims' seems to be the magic word... well, it was for me anyway.

that could be useful, mine haven't started squeaking yet but I'm sure they will! same reg etc

Mine squeaked like an absolute mofo, when I threatened to take her in to the monkeys it stopped... and never happened again!!!!

I do think it stops eventually.
