Hi all
This may be something that has already been asked but here goes,,
I have a 2001 206cc 2L and it’s only done 32k, recently it lost all power and when it went into the main dealer I was told that the tappets had to be replaced!
Not good as this comes with a £900 bill,,
I have been looking through this site and it seems to be a known problem and Pug are advising there garages to fit ones from the 1.8 l surely this is a manufactures problem and should be fixed FOC, and when you are told that 9 out of 10 fail within the warranty period it does not fill me with confidence in the lovely car
Has anyone had this fixed by Pug or do you just get the “your very unlucky sirâ€

There was a posting on this recently, Reap (the forums resident Pug Tech - and a very knowledgeable helpful one he is too) advocates the 1.8 tappets as the oil return is more efficient - whether Pug should pay is a different matter and one to contact them about, perhaps a halfway deal could be negotiated with your dealer.

Re: Tappets !!
Ive just had the same problem! Lost all power to engine and catalytic convertor warning sign on. Tried new oil/oil filters no good. Valves ok. Apparently this is all too common on the 2L 206.cc accoring to garage. Peugeot knew about it and have now modified engine. Pug have advised that 1.8 307 Tappets to be fitted instead. Asked mechanic if had to replace all of them and said yes, if not they could go again the next day. Parts are going to cost approx £400 never mind labour. Car has only done 38000 so am really annoyed. Ive loved Peugot and had 3 of them up till now but am thinking of selling car I'm so angry! Out of warrantly so what can I do but cough up?

So sorry to learn of your expensive problem. One of the reasons I went for a 1.6 when I bought my wife's 206cc. They seem to suffer fewer problems.
