Replacing wiper/display change stalk/button

Hi guys

Been reading posts for the last two day and not finding a solution. The little button on the end of the wiper stalk stopped working. In my fiddling I found that you can actually pull off the end-cap so to speak and I saw that the ribbon connecting the button to the stalk is worn on the end (of course I pulled it out of it's fitting). My question is the following: Can I replace only the stalk or even only the button with ribbon? The dealership tells me I have to repalce the Com2000, but I have no problems, the only prob is that the contact point on the ribbon is obviously worn therefor not changing the display. Any advice, oh and if it is possible to jsut replace the stalk will any year model stalk do the job?

the only changable part on the com is the radio stalk and cruise control stalk.every thing else is part of the com unit.sounds like to me you need a new comm2000.

Thanx, turned out I had to change the whole thing, R5000 later.
