Hi Pauline - hope you are well :D

I read about this on 350Z (i think) the other night.

Heard of things like this before and it has never happened for real so not optimistic. I also find it hard to believe big savings will be made as the retailer profit per litre is minimal so the discount would have to come from the oil company.

As they like their £b profits I can't see them giving money away for nothing when they would need a dramatic rise in turnover to make up for their discounts to maintain or increase their current profits.

If it is one company then they would also have the issue that if they were to ever withdraw from the discount then their current customers may boycott them and they would lose out.

I would love it to happen as I have spent £180 putting petrol into the two cars in the past 10 days but can't see it :(

Knowing your luck Lyndon, it would be backed by Shell and not BP :D

Ooh, someone else who boycotts Shell? I do after (1) they portrayed all bikers as greasy oiks (OK, so you've met me...) and (2) they dumped Chris Walker in Bike GPs!!! But I can see your points Derek and agree with you, although this guy is giving what appears to be a lucid argument... Hey ho, we'll find out soon enough I guess!

Lyndon just doesn't have a Shell PFS anywhere near him so needs to get ripped off by BP Ultimate :D
