I'm so glad I have found this site! I got my 206cc Quiksilver at the end of May 2004 - and I have extremely squeaky brakes! I had the roof down on Saturday and it did my head in listening to the squeaking every time I braked!

It has been in to Hartwell Peugeot in Dunstable who fixed my leaky roof, but told me the brakes were fine!! Maybe they were hard of hearing and couldn't hear it - or maybe they didn't even bother looking!

I wasn't happy with this so I rang Perrys in MIlton Keynes which is where I bought my car from. The lady told me I had to pay for labour and parts if I wanted them to have a look and replace if neceessary. She also gave me a number to call Puegeot UK and ask if they will look at it for free as it's over 6 months old.

I have only done 3700 miles in it - and I refuse to pay, especially as I have now seen that this is a very common problem!!

I'm ringing Peugeot UK up today and will hopefully get back to you later with the response I get!

PS. Bring on the summer so the cruisin' can start! :D

Ok, I had a call back from Peugeot UK this morning, to my disbelief the guy told me he hadn't been aware of this problem on 206cc's. Told me my garage hadn't heard the squeak when they checked it and that it had to go back in and they would check again.

Is it because I'm a woman that they give me this rubbish? He even tried to tell me that maybe I was pressing my brake pedal too gently!

If the garage still can't find a problem, whats my next best move? Because I can't put up with these squeaks throughout the summer months when the roof is down!

If they can't hear it get them to sit as passenger whilst you drive and point it out to them. They can't deny it's there if you say "right that there.....hear it.......now fix it"

Yes, I think I will have to do that! I can't see how they can not hear it!

I am going to insist they replace my brake pads as I didn't pay nearly £15,000 to have a car with squeaky brakes. If I don't get a positive response and get no new brake pads, I will call Pug UK again and tell them I will take it to Watchdog! :D

I may be female - but I'm not letting them treat me like I'm dumb and don't know what I'm talking about!

:| I had my breaks skimmed and new pads but my car still squeals. I was told by head office that I dont break hard enough! How had am I meant to break to prevent the squealing? My dealer told me there is a know problem which pug wont admitt to. I have driven a few different makes of cars and my driving style has not changed and i didnt have a problem then. I regret buying this car now because I have nothing but problems with leaky windows, boot not shutting glove conpartment not closing and the locks not working as they should.

Guy.

actually, if you brake lightly your brakes become shiney and can squeel, so they are telling the truth. But there has been a long row of people with the problem. Including myself. they did fix mine before I sold it though. Well, it didnt sound like a bus anymore 8)
