Please don't all attack me at once - I'm pretty sure this problem would have been highlighted before - I just can't find a link.

My car seems to be really rattly & noisy over bumpy ground. I've got a cd changer in the glove box & my cd's are taking a mighty hammering! Peugeot took a look at it when it went in last week & 'cleaned it'. They said if the problem persisted to bring my car back & they'd replace it - but I'm not so sure it's the cd changer at fault...the car's proper noisy!!!

Not looking foward to it going in again though after I had to borrow a 307 demonstrator that was like Johnny Cab from Total Recall (no offence to any 307 drivers - it's just this one smelt &had been very much abused!!!).

Could this be a suspension issue or should I take the new cd changer & run?

Any thoughts.... :D

If your cars suspension is standard then it sounds like a problem. Mines was lowered and it was as rattly as hell - even worse than before :D

The suspension could be knackered too but it depends on the mileage and use. Mines was knackered and it all got fixed at Ecosse but was knackered again when I sold it - along with everything else in the car  I think it was all down to the car being lowered.

You have nothing to lose by taking a new CD changer - just don't run and be ready to go back if that doesn't fix the problem :D

Sorry, should have mentioned I picked it up brand new 6th July, do you still think it's the suspension? :?

I forgot you just got it, it shouldn't be suspension.

Has it always been like this ?

I remember when I went for a test drive in the 206CC SE it seemed very bumpy compared to the 1.4LX I had at the time due to the low profile tyres.

What about asking to borrow a demo for 20 mins and see if that's the same, that way you have something to compare it to.

Hi
we had a problem with the clarion changer that we put into our 206 cc and like you I thought it was the suspension, however I sent the changer back and it was diagnosed as having a faulty lazer thingy (technical term) and once this was fixed it was fine.

If your changer is mounted in the glove box, first of all check that the damper mechanism has been switched to suit it laying flat rather than vertical, this is an easy fix which just requires a couple screws being removed and the sliders err..... slid to the right place.

Hope that helps

mmm...I think I get that last bit of advice, bit technical though! Maybe it is just the cd changer then, don't think I'd be safe with a screwdriver in my hand though. This is after I thought it would be a good idea to get the dried on dirt on my last car off with a scowering pad!!!! Yes she did!!! Think I'll leave it to the :mfight: 's!!! :D

Try popping into a Halfords store and asking someone to look at it or go to a hi fi place that can look at it... it will only take them a few seconds to look at it and in my experience a decent Halfords will just sort it out on the spot for you, specially if you wear a short skirt (if your a woman that is, not a scotsman) Go to a big one though not a high street one.

Cheers
