All,
As I stated on a previous meesage I recieved my car but with no handbook. However I have done a good job of working out everything except the little square balck button which is next to the passenger airbag switch (right hand side of steering wheel). It has a alarm type diagram on it.
Could somebody tell me what this is for as I am too scared to press it until I get my manual.
regards,
Marco

Marco,
The button disables the two alarm sensors in the top windscreen corners. It's there so if you leave the car with the roof down, the alarm doesn't go off every time an admirer peers in at your beautiful car. I think you press the button in with the engine off but the ignition still on.
Hope this helps.

Rapsodi,
The sensors are disarmed automatically when the roof is down. The only reason for the button is to disarm the sensors when you don't want to attract attention to the fact you've roasting your dog (or kid) in the car on a hot sunny day as he bounces about inside when you've locked him in.

BigKung, I am pretty damned sure that the sensors are not disarmed when the roof is down. As I did not receive my handbook for 6months after getting the car I never found out what that button was for so my alarm used to go off ALL the time in summer, then again, maybe I have a faulty CC (faulty CC ?? is there such a thing

Although the manual says the alarm is disabled when the roof is down, mine certainly isn't. The alarm went off when I reached into the car through the open roof to fetch something I'd forgotten.
I find that the red light doesn't usually come on if I press the button after switching off the ignition the first time. I have to turn the ignition on again (without starting the car) and then off before it works as it should.

Hmmm....
Ok! When MY roof is down the alarm does not go off from the sensors in the car. When the roof is up and the windows down then the alarm will sound. If the roof is up and the windows down and I push the disarm button 'the fiddley bit' then the alarm won't go off. I've teseted this (but may test again as you're messing with my mind!)
I have on of the early 2001 model 206cc.
On the key the Big peugeot stamped button locks and unlocks the car, The second small button if pressed within 5 seconds ot the big button will deadlock the door locks, useful if you have the roof down and windows up, then on-one can open the doors even if thy reach over and try to pull up the latches.
