Car was sitting in driveway for a week, no turnover of engine. Suddenly, the horn started sounding of its own accord. No key in ignition, car centrally locked. Totally random sounds from short pips to longer baarps, with no noticeable pattern. Anyone else had this problem? Removed fuse to avoid eviction from husing estate!
Arranged appointment with mechanic but car wouldn't start.
They couldn't find any electrical fault, replaced horn. All seemed ok but 14 hours later at 2am the horn starting on it's attention seeking routine again.
Horn also sounds randomly when driving too, very embarrasing.
Anyone got any help or tips or advice?

I've been having exactly the same problem as leeser describes. Car left for about a week without being driven then horn started sounding randomly - long and short blasts, while locked, unlocked, stationary or being driven. My model is a 1999 1.4 glx
I haven't seen a solution to this problem on these message boards - and I haven't received any recall notice either.
Any ideas?
