There are a few Pug dealers scattered about but I don't know what models they sell. I briefly thought of this (moving over there in a few months) but I have concerns over repairs/maintenance...

hate to say it but dont even think about it.
I was going to take mine over when i was there for the year but it's almost impossible.

1) There is no official pug presence in USA. Closest is Mexico
2) The 405 Estate was the last ever pug to be sold over there
3) The car will not meet US Emission laws and so would only be allowed over for a year
4) Cost of moving a car from the UK to the US = 2000 plus insurance one way
5) The amount of paper work is scary
6) it takes on average 2 weeks to get it to the states.

Basically you could get it there, but then you'll have absolutly no support for it. I even contacted the Pug owners club of the US and they said not to do it.

dunno mate ... Americans actually know what customer service means. That and the constant threat of being sued tends to focus the mind lol

well i found out the cheaptest way is to buy it from mexico
they have the 1.6, which is the one i had. Register it in mexico
that way i can bring it in to the states and not have to pass all the emissions tests etc. but would have to take it there every year to renew the papers
i am quite handy with the car for regular servicing, and i have the haynes manual for the 206
all that worries me is access to spare parts
i need a dealer in the uk that can DHL parts to me in the states
that would fix my problems
why would it not pass the emissions laws?
i doubt this small engine with a catalytic coverter is less enviornment friendly than the Ford F-150 or the huge SUV's they drive here!
i gallon to the mile

thats what i thought, but apparently modern euro cars do not meet the stringent us laws. Now i personally reckon that bolls, but it's what the US embassy told me.

more power to you for doing it though, esp throu mexico

I go to the USA every year (check out www.poloparkflorida.co.uk) and i would say that we all know they produce the largest amount of co2 in the world and have some of the bigest tank drinking cars in the world so i would say that it is a load of balls.
How comes the new Mini is ok but the 206cc is NOT.
I think it has sometink to do with the fact that the mini is produced by BMW which sells well in the USA.
New 53 Plate allure, Blue, one of the first in the UK.
Car has been rejected.
04 plate 1.6s same spec as the Allure.
mods to date:
:Rear lex lights.
:Wind stop.

I can't believe that emissions are a problem either with the cars that run out there. Europe is much tougher on emissions as well - in fact I believe the new Pug 206 GTi HDi is the only Diesel to be in the lowest emissions category for company cars (not sure of the details but that's what the dealer told me). I can't see the V8 monsters in USA meeting those emission levels!
