Well I’ve been waiting to get my RX-8 for five weeks now and I’m getting more than a bit peed off. Thats not five weeks since ordering, its five weeks since it was delivered to the dealer! I’ve just had more excuses and been told Ill probably have to wait another week, so I thought I’d share some of the excuses with you all.
I’ve been out of the office all day so haven’t been able to deal with your car.
We are short staffed this week so haven’t been able to deal with your car.
The car you are trading in doesn’t show up on an HPI check so we need written confirmation of the settlement figure.
I’ve been off sick so haven’t been able to deal with your car.
I was at the motor show yesterday so haven’t been able to deal with your car.
There are no technicians in today so we can’t do a PDI on your car
I’ve been dealing with customers all day so haven’t been able to deal with your car. (Yes he really did say this)
It been a few weeks since we saw the car you are trading in, we need to see it again.
The person dealing with your car has got the day off.
The value of the car you are trading in is £1000 less than previously stated.
The person dealing with your car is off sick again.
The person dealing with your car has left the company.
The settlement figure previously provided is now a few weeks out of date we need a new letter.
And they are wondering why I’m not happy.
Now I’ve got that off my chest I can start today’s round of phone calls.
Excuses, Excuses

Sorry to hear of all your dramas, Adrian. You must have the patience of a saint ! I wouldn't have lasted a week.
However, it seems to me that you still have a choice at this point in time.
You can choose to deal with this company or not.
Whereas, once you buy the car, you're stuck with them. Why not hunt round for another dealer ? I reckon the writings pretty clearly on the wall so far as what the future holds if you buy from these guys.

Today’s excuses:
The salesman and manager who you were dealing with have both left the company; there is no one here who knows about your car.
The new settlement figure for the trade in isn’t the same as the last one, so effectively the deposit has changed; we need you to sign new forms.
This puts me back to square one, of course the settlement figure has changed, after all this time I’ve made more payments.
Michael
I know what you mean but why will I be stuck with them? I can always go elsewhere for servicing etc. I have been looking round at other dealers but it will require a new order with delivery around November. Anyway I have told them that it’s their problem, I’m not signing any more forms and I’ll be there on Saturday to either collect the car or get my deposit back. So I may have to take a trip to Peugeot and reconsider the 307CC.

I work in the motor trade and the dealer has sold your car and is stalling as he cannot get another one for you. See it all the time, your car arrives and is waiting to be prepared and in come Mr Big Spender or friend of the salesman. 2 minutes later its sold to them not you and the cover up starts.
Go elsewhere.
Go elsewhere.

I saw the car last week so I know its there - at least they said it was 'my' car, still ungreistered and not PDI'd.
The other thing I was thinking was that they had overpriced the Pug and were trying to get me to drop out of the deal.
Saturday is the deadline (cant get there before then) its car or return of the deposit.

Take the money back and dont touch them with a bargepole!
If this is their pre-sales service when they havent got your money, just think what the after sales service is gonna be like.
The RX8 aint a cheap car, you wouldnt expect that from a merc dealer!
