Sorry, maybe another of my blonde girli ... e windows?

Can make a very small difference due to less drag with windows up.

Wonder what the difference in fuel consumption is with roof up, down?

Unfortunately yes... Having done some research on the net I've found that even leaving a quarter window open creates enough air friction to affect 10% of your petrol consumption. Badly blown tires and extra weight affect as well performance

is that 34.4 mpg shown on the display as mpg of as your driving (does the reading come from the counter that goes up and down as you drive)

I have a 1.6 and do 50/50 A road and town driving in the Newbury area (lots of traffic in the town so nothing moves quickly) and I get about 35 -37mpg if I drive like a grandad, with my normal driving, I get about 33mpg.

Just a small curiosity, but do you all calculate your milage yourself doing the mathematic formula or do you just look at the reading on the dash board's counter?

well if your not accelerating your using very little fuel, thus its off the scale .... Im currently got an average of 43.5mpg, computer last reset 3000 miles ago. I also do 50/50 city/motorway. This is a 1.6
