I have noticed that my car seems to make a rather loud pinking noise when it is cold.

Obviously this is a lot more noticeable when the roof is down and so I might be a bit more paranoid but I notice it a lot when I have the window down when I swipe myself out of the work car park, which I did not notice in my previous car.

As anyone else noticed this?

yes, very "tappity"??? I'm getting mine checked out on Saturday so I'll let you know! I read elsewhere on this forum that it could be hydraulic tappets - search for "lumpy idling" or something like that! Pauline

Pros is that as I also have the "lumpy idling" although that seems to have really settled down as I have done more miles.

Let me know how you get on Pauline.

Cheers

Ah. as I started a similar topic "lumpy idleing", I have since had my exhaust manifold looked at by the monkeys, and they apparently have done some welding work in it as instructed by pug themselves which has stopped the tappity sounds and also slightly calmed the mumpy idleing.

interesting! As usual they said "we plugged it into the computer and there were no faults reported". And of course it wasn't doing it today! So I'll just have to try again later...

I drove my partners new Audi A3 2.0 FSI today and that seemed a bit "tappity" too. Maybe I am just being ultra sensitive.

To be honest (and I hope I don't get caught typing this) I thought the Audi was a bit Sh1t to drive. It's a nice enough car but I would have preferred they spent their money elsewhere.... maybe on drinks for me!
