The DVLA is the best place to buy a plate from.
There is no other cost to you when you by from the DVLA just the £80 pluss the cost of the plate (reg)
if you buy from there web site it shows the cost of the plate with all cost inc.
All you have to do then is when you get all the paper work, 1 week at most, is take your existing tax disk, log book and your forms (which the DVLA sent you) to your local DVLA office (you can find it on there web site) and they will do the rest for you.
They will print you a new tax disk and give the old one back to (which when you have your new plates on the car you must send back) and they will ask you if you are going to have the plates made up soon, if you are then they will give you a form which you take to the place that is going to make up your plate because the DVLA will take your log book of you and send it away to get a new one with your new reg on.
GOOD LUCK
