My CC is going in for its 20k service on tuesday

I am debating whether to let Pug fit new brake pads or whether to buy outside of Pug (pads not actually needed, but cannot put up with mine any longer!)

Can anyone give me any brands that are definitely non-squeakers.. I did recall someone mentioning mintex?

Also opinions on whether to get them done by Pug or buy outside and get my friend the mechanic to fit them!

Thanks :D

Bizarrely (must have a word with the missus about driving style) not only were the front tyres shot after 16k, but the front pads are low and there's a ridge in the discs. Due a service in 2.5k but personally I'm going to go for:

Mintex 1155 or Pagid RS42 (Blue) or RS42-1 (Black) pads
Godspeed grooved discs if I can persuade him to do them. Something else if not -- anything except Black Diamond.....

If they'll replace them for free under warranty (which they're doing on mine) then why not let them do it & check them out. If they're still rubbish, then go for your own ones.

It's a definite no to the warranty brake pads... they muttered something about it being a import and scuttled off!

Has anyone actually fitted non-pug brake pads yet? If so which ones and how are they performing both squeak and braking wise?

Also it is standard to get charged £140 for oil and filters at 20k  ??

Thanks!

Quick question for Webcode if you are lurking out there!

Do your Textar pads squeak? Also does the excessive brake dust mean they bad for the discs?

No the Textar Pads do not Squeek at all..

And the slight extra dust means that the wheels need to be cleaned a little more than "normal"..

There's nothing definite about it. Mine's a UK spec Spanish import and I've just had replacement pads fitted at the 20k service.
