Hi All,

Newbie here. Just picked up my new 2.0L Aegean Blue CC on 30/01/04. Absolutely love it! Managed to clock up over 1,000k's last week!

I've also managed to introduce myself with the dealer's service department already by getting the roof stuck thru switching the ignition off whilst the roof was in motion within 3 days of taking delivery. Smart boy!

Now, to business.

I've been surfing the net and stumbled across all these sites and clubs. But most interestingly, I found a link to pugmatic. (www.pugmatic.co.uk)

Has anybody else purchased (or been tempted to purchase) one of these units? They sound very handy.

If you have, are you happy with it?

If not, I wonder if anybody else is interested in getting a small quantity shipped downunder between a few of us? It'll save a heap on freight and handling - particularly, local customs entry fees.

Any comments or advice?

Hi Boyracer,

Welcome to the family! Great choice of colour old son.

I know that sinking feeling of getting the roof stuck, just a couple of weeks ago I had the same problem. Similar cause too, I was showing off to a friend and got distracted, turned off the ignition while it was 1/2 way down. What a stupid move!

Anyhow, the roof slooooooowly sank into the boot so I drove home very slowly while I pondered what to do. Here in Wagga Wagga, my closest dealer is Canberra - some 200km away. Ouch!

Called up the 24 hour assist line (this was a Friday night, about 8pm) and to my great amazement, someone arrived at my house only 30 minutes later. He was armed with a copy of "The Idiots Guide to the 206CC Roof" and within about 1/2 an hour we had it back working properly.

So... If you've ever wondered if the Roadside Assist service is worth having outside of a capital city, I can tell you, it certainly is! Apparently the company behind it have contracted service agents in most towns across the country. It's the same crowd looking at giving the NRMA some competition in NSW.

Has anyone else had a look at the guide to this gadget? I don't know what the translators were on, but I think I'd like some! Here's a sample:

Remain during the entire time of the roof opening and/or reasoning in the range of the roof switch, over with an occurring endangerment immediately the procedure off breaking and/or to turn around to be able. It is to be made certain that the roof movement not with one of the factors specified above e.g. with strong wind is implemented. Since by tearing off and flying around parts of roofs you or other road users could come to damage.

And this one's a beauty:

The ConMatiC makes it possible, the roof through touches lightly the roof switch comfortably without holding the switch up to a speed of 25MPH to open and close. It can be installed without tool and removed arrearsless.

I'm not sure where the fun would be in a light touch if you don't need a tool and you were arrearsless? Perhaps we Aussies are missing something??

Hi All,

I live in the Cronulla area (about 45mins south of Sydney's CBD), affectionately (and quite seriously to some) known as 'God's Own Country'.

Aegean Blue was my first choice (Silver would've been my second). My last car was also blue. Must be a phase I'm going thru ?

Other than the Pugmatic, I've already figured that I'm going to have to put in an amp to boost the stereo's output as my speakers should now be more than capable in that I've just installed a couple of Pioneers (6" 4way 220 watts). Unfortunately, the sound is still not acceptable as I tend to listen to a lot of music with plenty of bass.

Does anybody know if I can simply hook up an amp using the same 'power in' for the stereo ? Or am I about to cause all kinds of problems? I've already figured that I'm going to have to find out more about the antiftheft settings. But will this method of obtaining power for the amp work ?

When I did the same silly thing, I called the Assistance Line and they said all we can do is tow your car to the nearest Pug dealer!! I eventually fixed it myself after an hour or so. Luckily the car was already in the garage!

Stuck Roof

I, also had arrived home when I got the roof stuck. I was chatting to a friend on the mobile as I drove into the garage; I stopped the car and started to put the roof down when it occurred to me that I was at risk of filling the garage with exhaust fumes - so, I thought I'd switch the key down to ACC only. DOH!!!

When I did it (within 3 days of getting the car), I rang the assistance line and they told me to disconnect the battery for 10 mins, then re-connect it (leaving it again for 10mins for the computers to sort themselves out) and then, try the roof again. It didn't work.

Fortunately, all the air had leaked out of the system by the next morning and the roof had settled back into the trunk. So, I was able to drive back to the dealer and have him reset the whole thing and get it working again.

He used the special Allen key (from the trunk) to get the roof back into a closed position, BUT then he had to hook the car up to something in the workshop to reset a computer (?).

This whole process took him 20mins.

All I can say is, if your roof ever gets stuck in Wagga - you'll be right! I'll even come and give you a hand, I'm now quite the expert with the allen key!

Perhaps the thought of the expense of towing my car 200 odd km to Canberra motivated them to try and fix it on the spot?

Mind you, I would've enjoyed a trip to Canberra - I might've bumped into the ever bouncing Seal!

I don't know why!!!!

And I spend a lot of time in Sydney coz my family live there, but I live and work in Canberra.

So I am always to be found cruising a highway, listening to tunes and singing along......

You are always welcome to come and bump into me anytime Steven, even if blue and black pugs parked side by side might look like a giant bruise.....

That was my point exactly. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a smutty mind!

I'll keep an eye out for you the next time I'm zipping down Northbourne! I think Black and Blue would look very nice together - but blue is better because it matches my baby blue eyes.
