 Welcome to the forum

Out of curiousity how much would a cc set you back in Singapore. I've been told by my mate who works there, that its an absolute fortune to run any sort of car.

don't be too shocked... i believe singapore is the most expensive place to own a car. i have been to UK before... cars there are cheap... with 6000 pounds, u can drive away with a small ford ka, here a ford ka easily cost 70-80k sing dollars.

its not just 100% tax... there is a thing call the certification of entitlement (COE) which allows you to drive the car for just 10 years. after which, u need to revnew the COE or scrap the car. the COE value averages around S$30,000 now...

well, i believe the govt is trying to limit the number of cars on the road... if you have ever been to singapore, u will realise that this small red dot on the globe is that small and if the number of cars are so much, then ever single area will be parked by cars...

so, what's the point if every inch is made up of cars... so, the govt had no choice but to limit the number of cars on the road... in Sg, what they did was to make you pay more, and its much more as compared to other countries.
