I have been well and truly ripped off and i dont think there is anything i can do about it.
I ordered a 206cc 2.0 SE on the 22/06/03.
Paid £17,359.99.......moonstone with leather seats.
When i picked it up on the 5/08/03 The car had Allure Tags on the doors.
I asked the sales guy " why have i got an allure when i ordered a SE?"
He said "oh they are the same car thats what they call it now"
I thought nothing of it and drove home.
I Have recently discovered to my horror that the same car "the allure" comes with free leather seats and metallic paint.!!!!
For a nice cheap price of £15,995.00
I called the dealership and they said "oh yeah, we had a delivery of 206cc's with allure on the doors by mistake"
ITS THE SAME FLIPPING CAR!!!!!!
I asked them " why didnt you inform me of the allure model coming out when i was choosing the extras?"
They said " we didnt know it was coming out until it did"
Hmm...I smell bullshit.....dont you?
Another peugeot issue for watchdog methinks?
Has anybody else discovered this and been given any 'excuses'?
oh and by the way I've got a leaky roof and drivers side window too.
Its booked in for repair on the 1st oct....i'll report back then!

Yes you have been done (and frankly had been at that price anyway!)
Trading standards should be your first stop the garage can't realistically charge you for an SE with options and provide something different/cheaper without any discussion or reimbursement.
PS The Allure available was on the road for around > £15,500 if you haggled.

Yep, definately follow it up - talk to Peugeot head office and trading standard. Make sure you CC the original garage i all correspondance to these two.
Not trying to p1ss you off, but I paid about £14500 for a UK SE with full leather and front SP grill, so you've definately been taken for a ride. Don't let them get away with it!

if you ordered an SE then you should get an SE, not an Allure. as both cars have different list prices then i don't think your dealer would have a leg to stand on if you took it further.

I would be rather annoyed with the dealer and I agree, you ordered an SE, you should get an SE.

from what i read on net SE+Those Options = Allure right?
so if this is true then arguement to get an SE + Options that you ordered and agree upon the price is no use because they just rip the allure badge off stick the SE on and give it to you, so they will have to get you an SE since that what you order, the question is would you want to? so all come down to the price..

that the only arguement you have for them to reduce the price, so on the date of your order is the allure model already available? if it was then then you have something to fight for here right. If not and "we didnt know it was coming out until it did" which is bulls#$t because being a peugeot dealer they should know whats their upcoming model, but would this stand in the dispute? even if it did do they have an obligation to inform you? may be there are some law literate people here which can clarify this...

I would write a letter to the dealership saying that you refuse to except the situation. Say you ordered an SE and you got an Allure. Say dispite the option of a cheap import you went to Peugeot and paid full price (didn't even haggle) because you wanted the security of dealing with a dealership. Say you feel you've been turned over by the dealship. Say you will except the Allure as your car but you want the price difference refunded. Ask for confirmation that Peugeot had charged the dealership SE prices for your Allure. Give them 14 days to respond or you'll instruct solicitors to act on your behalf. Then send it to the dealer and send a copy to Peugeot customer care (and watchdog) marking the latter as CC'd to these parties.
In a perfect world they should be happy to sell an Allure at full price and give you your money back. Problem is they may offer instead to take your car back and give you an SE (selling an SE at full price) and put your Allure on the forecourt as a demonstrator (knowing they can shift that with ease because of the price).

On paper I did cr*p as I paid £15,500 for mine (£495 below RRP).
However as I got £2,000 more P/x for the Stilo than offered by 4 other Peugeot dealers, 3 Vauxhall dealers (against VX220's) and a Lotus dealer I reckon that makes the deal pretty sweet (£13,500?)
God knows how they got the bid on the Stilo though it was more than I paid for it
