I merrily flashed my lights at a fellow cc driver the other day as away of saying hello, got a blank look as usual but then realised that I was actually driving my husbands Mondeo!

Well I guess the fact that there was no delay on the lights should have given the game away! Oh and there's also the fact that the car was twice the size and an automatic but I can't always be expected to notice these things! (No comments about women drivers thanks boys)

NB Please note that I had the Mondeo due to the fact that my Husband wanted to take mine to show off at the office so I think it was his fault by default!

the rule is flash, wave pip - anything as long as you see each other

You know like the VW drivers do that 'W' hand gesture at each other....why don't we just do a open/close scissor like gesture (paper, scissor, stone...without the paper and stone). Subtle......

I've tried my best waving and flashing my lights at other CCs but never get any acknowledgment back. Not wishing to stereotype but they do always seem to be older women, guess maybe they're not reading this forum!

Claire,

I am please I am not the only person to do this, I regularly flash at other CC's, but to make it worse I'm in my husbands Volvo!! I very rarely see another cc when I'm in my car

The problem is that since you usually see the other car head-on, it's very difficult to tell what kind of 206 it is until it's too late.

Must be because I see so many round here, but I recognise them fairly easily, the tilt of the windscreen is different isn't it?!

My other car is an MG. Most MG owners wave or flash as well so I end up flashing CCs and MGs what ever car I am in. So if an MG flashes you it'll be me.

perhaps we do all flash each other but because of the delay in the lights and the speed we're driving we never get to see it.
By the way i think the car is noticeably lower than the normal 206 and the windscreen is a different angle...

I've given up waving and flashing at other people in CC's around here for two reasons:

1: There are so many I might blow the headlight bulbs due to overuse.

2: They all seem to be miserable buggers who think you are some kind of retard for being friendly - so if you live in Oxfordshire cheer up!!

Stuarts scissors hand gesture sounds interesting - but won't it just look like we are sticking our fingers up at other drivers - might be a good idea around here!! ;)

I normally recognise the front of another CC by looking at the number plate and grill. On ours the number plate extends over the grill but in a normal CC is doesnt.

Obi,

You can't do it like that as GTI's have the deeper grill aswell and 1.6 CC's have the same grill as the rest of the 206 population!.

The car does seem to look a little wider when coming towards you probably an optical illusion as the roof is lower than a normal 206.
